POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL received its educational premiere presentation at the Philip Chosky Theater in Carnegie Mellon University's Purnell Center for the Arts, March 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Conceived by composer and lyricist Douglas Lyons, 'Polkadots' was inspired by the 1957 events of the 'Little Rock Nine' in Arkansas and serves as a colorful musical history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts. More than 430 Elly nominees for the 2014-15 season were announced at an informal nomination reception on Sunday, August 2, 2015 beginning at 7pm. More than 100 actors, directors, technicians, and producers were on hand to listen excitedly for their names to be called. This year's theme is How Sweet It Is and featured an assortment of brightly colored candies displayed in decorative candy jars.

Circle Players ends its 64th Season of shows with the edgy and socially relevant rock musical bare, A Pop Opera. The show deals with the gamut of issues faced by teens today-- sexuality, drug abuse, bullying, pregnancy and suicide-set in a religious school. For this production, Circle Players partners with Just Us @ Oasis Center, which provides support for high school students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ). Performances will be today, May 23-June 1, 2014, at Sarratt Cinema on the Vanderbilt University campus.
