The Colony Theatre will present the second production of its historic 40th Anniversary season, the West Coast Premiere of WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS by Pearl Cleage. The production stars Tony winner L. Scott Caldwell, and is directed by Saundra McClain. WHAT I LEARNED IN PARIS will preview tonight, September 3; Thursday, September 4; and Friday, September 5 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, September 6 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 5 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street in Burbank.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents "The Songs of Miller and Tysen" on Monday, September 15th, 2014. Shows at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. Described as equal parts James Taylor and Stephen Sondheim, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen's songs have been performed everywhere from East Village folk clubs, to Off-Broadway theaters, to Sesame Street. The concert will feature some of Broadway's best performers singing never-before-heard material from Tuck Everlasting, which premieres at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta this winter. The Lark Play Development Center named five New York City-based playwrights as Playwrights' Workshop Fellows for the 2014-15 season. The group spans a wide range of backgrounds and professional experiences and will meet regularly throughout the year to develop new plays.

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce the promotion of Christopher Moses to Associate Artistic Director. Moses joined the education staff of the Alliance Theatre in 2000 and has served as the Alliance's Director of Educational Programs since 2011. This transition reflects the Alliance's ongoing commitment to artistic integration in education.

Mountainfilm on Tour ATL, a part of the Mountainfilm in Telluride family, makes its second annual appearance at the Plaza Atlanta Theatre in August. Year-round and worldwide, Mountainfilm in Telluride takes a selection of festival films out on the road. Mountainfilm on Tour ATL is this weekend, August 22 and 23 at The Plaza Atlanta Theatre.

Award-winning songwriter Hyeyoung Kim (SUNFISH, CAFE-IN) will present a one-night only concert of original material Thursday, August 21st, 2014, 8pm at the Indian Road Cafe, 600 W. 218th Street, New York, NY. There is no cover or food/drink minimum.

Theatrical Outfit begins its Season of Compassion with the dramatic comedy The Savannah Disputation, written by Georgia-born playwright Evan Smith and, he says, inspired by today's politics and his Savannah grandmother. The show will run August 21 - September 7, 2014. The show will feature Alex Bond, Lane Carlock, Shannon Eubanks and Mark Kincaid. This is the 38th season for Theatrical Outfit, the second-oldest professional theater company in Atlanta, and the home of stories that stir the soul.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Broadway production this fall, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater mounts a new staging of Fiddler on the Roof, the iconic musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Helmed by Artistic Director Molly Smith, the production features choreography by Arena favorite Parker Esse, who adapts the original Jerome Robbins choreography for an in-the-round staging, and a 10-piece orchestra led by Musical Director Paul Sportelli (Arena's My Fair Lady, Light in the Piazza).

I'm sitting in rehearsal watching Will Swenson (brilliantly) do 'Crash At The Plate' and everyone is laughing so much we are taking a break now. Benny Elledge who plays the umpire, marking Crashes strike outs, is so nuts and can make a meal out of the word 'Steeeeeee' which is (I quote) 'a derivation of the word STRIKE' Benny says umpires in general don't always finish words. He grunts grotesquely to teach me this moments later, as I interview him for this blog.

Rehearsals are underway for the Alliance Theatre's upcoming world premiere BULL DURHAM, a new musical based on the beloved 1988 film. The production hits the Alliance Stage on September 3rd. Directed by Kip Fagan (Off-Broadway: The Revisionist), BULL DURHAM has a book by Academy Award-nominee Ron Shelton (director and screenwriter of the Bull Durham movie) and music and lyrics by Susan Werner, whom the Chicago Tribune called, 'one of the most innovative songwriters working today.' The TONY Award-winning score from Parade will be brought to life for one night only at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on February 16, 2015. Recent TONY-winner, and original composer, Jason Robert Brown will be at the helm to direct a star-studded cast and full chorus as Music Director, joined by Olivier Award-nominee Gary Griffin as Director.
