The Alliance Theatre has partnered with Broadway Dreams Foundation and ArtsBridge Foundation, two premier arts education programs, in celebration of Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon) and his outstanding contribution to the American Musical Theatre.

GTA to Stage Ancient Drama ANTIGONE, Beginning 2/13

?Continuing its 35th Anniversary season and as part of its annual February Festival of plays, the Gainesville Theatre Alliance is producing its very first Ancient Greek drama for the MainStage, Sophocles' Antigone. The original heroine's fight to preserve her family's honor opens Feb. 13th at University of North Georgia's Ed Cabell Theatre (3820 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood).

Dixon Place to Present THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, Begin. 2/7

Dixon Place's new production, THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, will begin previews Saturday, February 7th, and open on Sunday, February 22nd at 6:00 PM. Based on his best-selling novel, the show features critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated and award-winning storyteller James Lecesne, who portrays the life and characters of a Jersey Shore town where a young boy goes missing. The play is directed by Tony Speciale, with visuals by Matthew Sandager and incidental music by Duncan Sheik, some of which will be released in his new record "Legerdemain" in April 2015. THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY will run through March 28th at Dixon Place (161 Chrystie Street). The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2014 (Dec. 1, 2013 - Nov. 30, 2014). The 46th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Beyond the Stars Palace, 417 N. Brand Boulevard in Glendale.

Northlight Theatre Premieres WHITE GUY ON THE BUS Tonight

11th Alliance/Kendeda Competition Winner to Premiere in February

The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. THE C.A. Lyons Project, the 11th competition winner, will premiere on the Hertz Stage February 13 - March 8, 2015. Opening night is February 18, 2015.

In Love and Warcraft, a new play by Madhuri Shekar at No Rules Theatre Compan,y is full of heart, overflowing with warmth and good humor to balance the challenges of intimacy in a world that does not respond logically to strategy and commands. The production, directed by No Rules Theatre Company Artistic Director Joshua Morgan, features a strong and engaging new script by award-winning playwright Madhuri Shekar. But it is the cast that makes the play so memorable. There is a connection and warmth among them that draws us in despite the characters' quirky foibles that make them so human and relatable.

LA Stage Alliance & Producers League Of LA Plan 99-Seat Theatre Plan Research Project

LA STAGE Alliance, in partnership with the leadership council of the Theatrical Producers League of Los Angeles/Intimate (TPLLA/I), will work with consultants to research the existing business models for theatre companies working in the 99-seat arena, it was announced today. The project will be completed by May of this year, with findings presented at the annual LA STAGE Day event.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Beth Leavel will be joining Alliance Theatre's world premiere musical Tuck Everlasting as 'Ma Tuck', beginning February 6 and continuing through the 22nd, when original star Carolee Carmello leaves to join Broadway's production of Finding Neverland.
