Alan Gilbert to Direct NY Phil in U.S. Premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage's FRIEZE, 10/3-9

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and the U.S. Premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage's Frieze - written in response to Beethoven's Ninth and co-commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society, New York Philharmonic, and BBC Radio 3 - on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Part of the Royal Philharmonic Society's 2013 bicentennial, this program reflects the New York Philharmonic's historic link to the Ninth Symphony: the Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) commissioned the work in 1817, and the New York Philharmonic gave its U.S. Premiere in 1846, for which it commissioned the first English translation of "Ode to Joy."

The Collegiate Chorale announces its first concert of the season, Mefistofele, by Arrigo Boito on November 6, 2013 at 8pm at Carnegie Hall, 881 7th Avenue, NYC. Yefim Bronfman to Begin Residency with NY Philharmonic on 9/26

Music Director Alan Gilbert will launch the New York Philharmonic's 2013-14 subscription season with concerts featuring pianist Yefim Bronfman's first performances as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. The concerts will include Ravel's Alborada del gracioso; Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Mr. Bronfman as soloist.

NY Philharmonic Opens Season with Yo-Yo Ma Gala Concert, 9/25

Music Director Alan Gilbert opens the New York Philharmonic's 2013-14 season with the Opening Gala concert, headlined by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Gilbert will conduct Mr. Ma and the Orchestra in two works by Argentinian composers: the World Premiere of Octavio Brunetti's arrangement, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, of a suite from Astor Piazzolla's La serie del Ángel, and Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, composed for the eminent cellist. The program opens with Ravel's Alborada del gracioso and closes with Bolero, two pieces that reflect the French composer's fascination with Spain. The concert will be telecast nationally on Live From Lincoln Center at a later date, and Classical 105.9 FM WQXR at 7:30 p.m.

NY Philharmonic's A DANCERS DREAM Set for Limited Theatrical Release, Beginning 9/12

SpectiCast has partnered with the New York Philharmonic in collaboration with Giants Are Small to bring an exciting new production, A DANCER'S DREAM, to select cinemas nationwide beginning September 12, 2013. This extraordinary multi-media production, which blends dance, live animation, pre-recorded video, puppetry, and circus arts, was captured live in New York City at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall on June 29, 2013, and was directed and designed by Doug Fitch, conducted by Alan Gilbert, choreographed by Karole Armitage, and stars New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns. The one-of-a-kind cinema event will feature the complete production, behind-the-scenes footage, as well as a brief intermission feature on Stravinsky's history with the New York Philharmonic, including video and never-before-seen material from the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives.

Alec Baldwin returns for his fifth season as the host of the two-hour radio program, which is produced by the New York Philharmonic and syndicated both nationally and internationally 52 weeks a year by the WFMT Radio Network.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) continues its mission to be a catalyst for new American orchestral music while providing invaluable opportunities for composers through four EarShot partnerships during the 2013-2014 season. Calls for submissions for EarShot Readings with three of the orchestras are now open - Berkeley Symphony (Readings on February 2-3 & May 4-5, 2014, submission deadline August 30), Detroit Symphony (Readings on March 9-10, 2014, submission deadline October 11), and the New York Philharmonic (Readings on June 3, concerts on June 5-7, 2014, submission deadline December 2) as part of the NY PHIL BIENNIAL. Also as part of the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, ACO continues its ownUnderwood New Music Readings for the 23rd year in New York at the DiMenna Center (June 6-7, 2014, submission deadline December 2). Composers have already been selected for the La Jolla Symphony Readings, which take place on September 19 and 20, 2013.

The 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert benefiting Sandy Relief will star Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic with special guest appearance by multiple Grammy Award winner Mariah Carey tonight, July 13, three days in advance of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Citi Field, which airs on FOX. The concert, which will be free to fans but requires each attendee to have a ticket, will take place on the iconic Great Lawn at Central Park tonight, July 13 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The 2013 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will return for the 48th season with five free outdoor concerts, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (today, July 10); Cunningham Park, Queens (July 11); the Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan (July 13 and 15); and Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (July 16). In addition, the New York Philharmonic Brass will give a Free Indoor Concert at the Center for the Arts, College of Staten Island, CUNY (July 14).

The New York Philharmonic will present a staged production of Stephen Sondheim's Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, March 5-8, 2014. Bass-baritone Bryn Terfel will star as the title character. Sweeney Todd will be conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and produced the Philharmonic's productions of Sondheim's Company in 2011, SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert! in 2010, and Sweeney Todd in 2000. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
