Met Museum presents the New York Philharmonic's concert series CONTACT!, Jordi Savall's 'Orient-Occident: A Dialogue of Souls,' and New York ensemble Cirène's interpretation of a classic love story of the Middle East with music, dance and painting, all in June 2012. See details below.

Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic, America's oldest orchestra, come to Walt Disney Concert Hall in the final event of the LA Phil's 2011/12 Visiting Orchestras series, tonight, May 9, at 8 pm. Virtuoso pianist Yefim Bronfman joins the program, performing the West Coast premiere of Piano Concerto No. 2, by New York Philharmonic Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg. Also on the program are Dvorak's Carnival Overture and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. Though Gilbert has previously appeared at Walt Disney Concert Hall (WDCH), most recently during the 2006/07 season, the performance will be the New York Philharmonic's WDCH debut.

Jeffrey Milarsky leads the LA Phil New Music Group in the season's final Green Umbrella concert, at Walt Disney Concert Hall, tonight, May 8, at 8 pm. Joining is percussionist Colin Currie performing the world premiere of LA Phil Principal Timpanist Joseph Pereira's LA Phil-commissioned Concerto for Percussion and Chamber Orchestra.

The New York Philharmonic today announced a revised schedule for the 2012 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer. The five free outdoor concerts will take place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, July 11 (as originally scheduled); Cunningham Park, Queens, July 12; The Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan, July 13 and 16; and Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, July 17.

The New York Philharmonic and Park Avenue Armory will present two evenings of spatial music conceived by Music Director Alan Gilbert - featuring the New York premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's epic composition Gruppen - in the Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall, Friday, June 29, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 30, at 8:00 p.m.

Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, will lead the New York Philharmonic in Mahler's Symphony No. 9 at the Annual Free Memorial Day Concert, Monday, May 28, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. This will be the 21st Annual Free Memorial Day Concert offered by the New York Philharmonic, a tradition begun in 1992 as a gift to the people of New York City. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the performance. The audio of the performance will be broadcast onto the adjacent Pulpit Green, weather permitting.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art today unveiled the 2012-13 season of Met Museum Presents, its newly-renamed series of performances and talks. This is the first full season to be programmed by Concerts & Lectures General Manager Limor Tomer, who assumed her post at the Met in July 2011. Maestro David Zinman, making his NJPAC debut, conducts the New York Philharmonic and recent MacArthur Foundation Fellow Alisa Weilerstein in a Beethoven and Barber program in NJPAC's Prudential Hall on Friday, March 9 at 8pm. Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, makes his first Philadelphia appearance leading the New York Philharmonic, one of the most revered and oldest ensembles in the United States, through an orchestral performance of works by composers Stucky, Berlioz and Mussorgsky/Ravel in Verizon Hall on Friday, February 24 at 8 p.m. The performance also includes the enchanting vocals of mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato in Berlioz's song cycle Les nuits d'ete.
