The Covenant House has announced the Second Annual Sleep Out: Broadway Edition on Sunday, August 17, 2014, where members of the Broadway community will spend the night sleeping on the streets outside the Covenant House to raise much needed funds for homeless youth. The Executive Committee Members of Covenant House's Sleep Out: Broadway Edition is made up of Stephanie J. Block, Jeff Calhoun, Capathia Jenkins, Denis O'Hare, Tom Schumacher and Keala Settle.

HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME, written by Todd Kreidler and directed by Kenny Leon, blazes to life in a non-biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope. Inner city lives struggle for peace against the daily challenges they face in this entertaining and original musical. Through the poetry of one of the 20th century's most influential and culturally prominent voices, we are given a window into realities of the streets still relevant today.
The show opened just last week, June 19 at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway at 47th Street), and BroadwayWorld was on the red carpet to capture all of the opening night fashions! Check out full photo coverage below!

BROADWAY BARKS announces their 16th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event featuring celebrities from the hottest shows on Broadway to benefit New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, the event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will take place on Saturday, July 12 in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. where you can meet all the adoptable dogs and cats; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Earlier this week, Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) hosted the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). Big winners for the night included Audra McDonald, Bryan Cranston, Jessie Mueller, and Neil Patrick Harris and Jefferson Mays- who tied for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.
