Celebrities of all kinds have been flocking to see HAMILTON ever since its run Off-Broadway at the Public Theatre, and this week saw stars of the screen in attendance. This weekend, actor and comedian Aziz Ansari, Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, actor Zachary Quinto, and NBC journalist Ann Curry all caught the show. Broadway's new musical Amazing Grace officially opened last night, July 16, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). The cast features Tony Award nominee Josh Young, Erin Mackey, Tony Award winnerChuck Cooper, Tom Hewitt, Chris Hoch,Stanley Bahorek, Harriett D. The deVaron Lerangis Family Band (singer/composer/pianist Tina deVaron, and her sons, singer/composer/producer Nick Lerangis of the band, Evening Darling, and teacher/musician/historian Joe Lerangis of the American School of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) will perform one show at Caffe Vivaldi tonight, July 9th from 7-8pm. Caffe Vivaldi is in Greenwich Village at 32 Jones St, between West 4th and Bleecker. Call (212) 691-7538 for more information. This is a very special event, and advance planning is highly recommended, as the room is small.

The Broadway Community worships at the altar of Michael McElroy and, pretty soon, so will the world. The Broadway veteran, with many shows under his belt, founded the Broadway Inspirational Voices in 1994 and, last night, photographer and friend Walter McBride and I were invited to a private home, where an awe-inspiring event transpired. We witnessed the birth of PARLOR NIGHT, something that ladies Di Ana Pisarri and Schele Williams had dreamed of for some time.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Grep Cooper Productions, LLC LLC have announced that Virginia Woodruff (Violet, Leap of Faith, The Color Purple, All Shook Up, Smokey Joe's Cafe), Cheryl A. Freeman (The Who's Tommy , Disney's Hercules), Tyler Hardwick , Anthony Chatmon II , Miche Braden and Darilyn Castillo have joined the cast of ACAPPELLA. Rounding out the company are Katrina R. Dideriksen, Gavyn Pickens, Emily Goglia, Rachel Gavaletz, Janelle McDermoth, Darryl Williams, Alex Koceja and Garrett Turner.

The American Theatre Wing and the Village Voice just presented the winners of the 60th Annual OBIE Awards. The Public Theater's Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda (including special citations for Andy Blankenbuehler, Thomas Kail, and Alex Lacamoire) received the OBIE Award for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $1,000 check. The Signature Theatre's Founding Artistic Director James Houghton received the OBIE Award for Sustained Achievement. The Awards were hosted by OBIE Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria ('Orange is the New Black'). Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) raised a record $10.4 million last night at its Spring Gala honoring Hearst Corporation, as announced by Katherine Farley, chair of Lincoln Center. The event, attended by more than 500 people, lauded Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, and Executive Vice-chairman and former CEO, Frank A. Bennack, Jr. for the enormous and varied contributions to Lincoln Center made by them as well as by their company. Both men serve on Lincoln Center's Board of Directors; Mr. Bennack was chairman of Lincoln Center from 2005 through 2010, and Mr. Swartz is currently chairman of Lincoln Center's Corporate Fund.
