Today in 2000, Aida opened at the Palace Theatre, where it ran for 1852 performances. Aida is a musical with music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang. Aida was nominated for five Tony Awards and won four Tony Awards in 2000, including Best Musical Score and Best Performance by a Leading Actress. Aida was also named by Time Magazine in 2000 as one of the top ten theatre productions of the year. The First National tour was nominated for nine National Broadway Theatre awards (now 'Touring Broadway Awards') and won five awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's award-winning professional theatre company, will present an evening with Tony® nominee Adam Pascal, star of Broadway's 'Rent, 'Aida,' 'Memphis,' 'Cabaret' and 'Chicago' and numerous feature films including 'Rent.' The one night only event will take place on Saturday, September 26 at The Melissa & Doug Theatre at MTC, 509 Westport Avenue (behind the Jones New York and Nine West Outlet) in Norwalk, CT. Tickets are $125 for The VIP Experience, which includes cocktails, plentiful hors d'oeuvres at 6:30pm reserved seating for the 8pm performance and a post-show dessert reception meet-and-greet with Mr. Pascal. $75 for show only tickets. Radio show co-hosts Jill Whelan (Love Boat, Airplane, Celebrity Wife Swap) and Alexander Rodriguez (Happy Hour) from Universal Broadcasting Network's newest show "On The Rocks" will hit the stage on August 24th debuting their new duet cabaret show, 'Musical Madness!' - a roller coaster of stories, audience participation, and dramedy, belted out by your co-hosts featuring music from stage, screen and pop.

The musical-horror film ALLELUIA! THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW II) and starring David Hasselhoff, Emilie Autumn, Paul Sorvino, Adam Pascal, Ted Neeley, and Barry Bostwick, among many more, will kick off a traveling circus tour with its premiere in Los Angeles tonight, August 11th, before continuing in cities across the U.S. and Canada throughout the fall.
