Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre, through its groundbreaking American Musical Voices Project (AMVP), announces the world premiere of the musical comedy And the Curtain Rises (formerly known as Wheatley's Folly). Beginning performances on Thursday, March 17, 2011, And the Curtain Rises marks the third production presented as part of Signature's AMVP, the largest commissioning program for new musicals in the country, following Michael John LaChiusa's Giant in 2009 and Ricky Ian Gordon's Sycamore Trees last year. The Washington Post has said that 'Signature's AMVP is the most ambitious embrace of new musical theater in the DC region.'

Carrie Manolakos (Wicked, Mamma Mia!) and Starr Busby will be part of cast of Things to Ruin: The Songs of Joe Iconis when it takes to the stage at (Le) Poisson Rouge for four performances, beginning February 28. They join the previously announced Ben Arons, Nick Blaemire, Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Ian Kagey, Eric William Morris, Mike Pettry, Lance Rubin, Jason 'Sweet Tooth' Williams and Joe Iconis.

Rising songwriters Jonathan Reid Gealt and Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk had a joint celebration of their respective CD releases 'Thirteen Stories Down' and 'Our First Mistake' on Sh-K-Boom Records with back-to-back concerts at downtown venue (Le) Poisson Rouge on Monday, February 7th. Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, Gealt Get CD Releease Concerts at Le Poisson Rouge

Rising songwriters Jonathan Reid Gealt and Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk will have a joint celebration of their respective CD releases 'Thirteen Stories Down' and 'Our First Mistake' on Sh-K-Boom Records with back-to-back concerts at downtown venue (Le) Poisson Rouge on Monday, February 7th. Gealt's concert begins at 7pm. Kerrigan-Lowdermilk start at 10pm. Doors open thirty minutes before show time. Tickets are $20 for each show or $30 for a full-night concert pass.

New York Theatre Barn in the D-Lounge, now in its 4th year, is a monthly event that was created May of 2007 in the D-Lounge at the Daryl Roth Theatre. The series transferred to The Duplex in the West Village in January of 2008 and returned to the D-Lounge in January of 2010.

Encore Theater Company is pleased to be the host theatre for the out-of-town tryout of the New York bound musical, HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN starring MAC Award Winning Cabaret Performer Cait Doyle. The entire New York cast and team will rehearse the new book musical during a residency at Encore's Oregon District location February 8-13 with the first public performance of the show Saturday February 12 at 8PM at Sinclair Community College Building.
