David Garrison Joins OLIVE AND THE BITTER HERBS at Primary Stages

Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) has announced today that David Garrison (By the Way, Meet Vera Stark) has joined the cast in the role of Robert for World Premiere of the new comedy, Olive and the Bitter Herbs by Charles Busch. Directed by Mark Brokaw, the previously announced cast will also feature Dan Butler as Trey, Julie Halston as Wendy, Marcia Jean Kurtz as Olive and Richard Masur as Sylvan. The play was commissioned by Primary Stages.

Actress Natascia Diaz, who received wide acclaim in the Public Theater's concert production of The Capeman at the Delacorte Theatre, will step in for Sally Mayes for six performances of critically acclaimed musical revue THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE MUSIC OF CY COLEMAN, part of Americas Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters.

INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) will present Drawn and Quartered, a new play by Maggie Bofill, directed by Lou Moreno, beginning performances Off-Broadway Wednesday June 1st, and continuing through June 26th only, at INTAR's theater space (500 West 52nd Street, at Tenth Avenue, on the 4th Floor).

On Monday, May 30, 2011, New York Theatre Barn will present its monthly platform, now in its 4th year, for emerging musical theatre writers at the D-Lounge (at the Daryl Roth Theater). Featured writers for the May 2011 installment include Riley Thomas and Jonathan Larson Award winner Mike Pettry (The Time Traveler's Convention). Performers for the evening include Alex Brightman (Wicked), Carrie Manolakos (Mama Mia, Things to Ruin), Lorinda Lisitza (Triumphant Baby, ReWrite), Lauren Marcus (ReWrite), Jeremy Morse (Bloodsong of Love), Jason 'SweetTooth' Williams (Bloodsong of Love, Things To Ruin), Jenny Donoghue, Raelyn Hennessee, Jared Miller, Anthea Neri, Riley Thomas, and Miranda Whaley. Executive Producers for NYTB in the D-Lounge are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.
