Poetry readings, performances, panels and discussions paying tribute to 17th century poet and feminist writer Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz make up the "Post-Silence" Salon Series set to follow each performance of About… Productions' original drama Properties of Silence. Kicking off the series, Red Hen Press presents poets Eloise Klein Healy (first Poet Laureate of Los Angeles, 2012), Jessica Piazza and Terry Wolverton on Feb. 28. All performances and Salon Series events take place at The Carrie Hamilton Theatre at The Pasadena Playhouse.

The Latino Theater Company presents the world premiere of ¡Ser!, a comedic solo show written and performed by Karen Anzoategui that features live music byCAVA and Walter Miranda written in collaboration with Louie Perez of Los Lobos. ¡Ser! opens at the Los Angeles Theatre Center tonight, Saturday, Nov. 16.

The world premiere of a comedic solo show written and performed by Karen Anzoategui that features live music by CAVA and Walter Miranda written in collaboration with Louie Perez of Los Lobos. ¡Ser! is a riveting personal narrative that examines a queer Latina's strained relationship with each of her two homes: Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires.

Gracie has been passing as a man, George, for some time, in order to do men's work and live the way she feels most authentic. Anastasia Coon presents the full-length Los Angeles premiere of her solo show Gracie and Rose. Los Angeles Writer's Center Director Che'Rae Adams directs the limited run of the full work in development, now through June 28 at Art of Acting LA during the 2013 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe - The songbook of Grammy Award winners David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos drives Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe, a multimedia play with music that takes its title from the group's 1985 rocker "Evangeline." Evangeline, a devoted daughter by day, a Hollywood go-go dancer by night. A journey of self discovery by a young Chicana, whose neighborhood roots and make-believe world collide when she experiences the West Side art scene and the music of the Sunset Strip, is set against the 1968 student walkouts in East L.A. and the fight for equal education and civil rights. Two performances have been added to Bootleg and About Productions' show, Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2, both at 7 pm.

Few artists are as truly homegrown as Los Lobos, the Grammy Award-winning East L.A. band whose eclectic musical style and distinctive voice are much loved by Angelenos of all ages and cultures. This is the first time their music will appear in a theatrical production and that reason alone is sure to drive audiences to see Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe.
