The Friars Club remembered a dark time in American history yesterday afternoon with a panel discussion led by Christine Pedi exploring the Hollywood Blacklist and McCarthyism in America.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, stage and screen star, Patricia Morison died at the age of 103 at home in Los Angeles of natural causes. A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.

The World Premiere of The Postman Always Rings Twice by Jon Jory takes the stage at San Jose Stage Company as a part of their 35th Anniversary Season: "Truth & Illusion".  Adapted from the 1934 novel by James M. Cain, this play examines a love affair turned deadly. This crime thriller explores the consequences of attempting to escape fate.

Jones Street Productions presents the New York premiere of Moolah, a new comedy by Arje Shaw (The Gathering, Magic Hands Freddie). Custom Made Theatre caps its 15th season with Arthur Miller's The Crucible, directed by Stuart Bousel. The Crucible is arguably The Great American Play, a classic story of individuals confronting the corruption within their society and standing up for their convictions under even the direst of circumstances. Custom Made has assembled a cast of 17 to portray the frightening times of 17th Century Salem, Massachusetts. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. (WBHE) and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) are adding four new collections to their TCM Greatest Classic Films line, which spotlights Hollywood's most legendary actors and actresses in classic cinema.

To bring a second life to an undiscovered gem, Termination Productions LLC will present 'The Head Hunter,' a dramatic encounter between a screenwriter and his mobster cousin, at The Producers Club Theaters April 11 to May 4, 2014. The play is written by Mark Borkowski, a New York-based playwright, screenwriter and actor who is now best known for playing Paul Sagorsky in the third and fourth seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. Richard Hymes-Esposito (www.richardhymes.com) directs. It is the first revival of a horrific yet hilarious two-hander that Backstage (Elias Stimac) labeled 'one of the best plays of 2000' when it debuted that year.

Jacaranda's next concert, tonight, March 8 at 8:00 p.m., will be held at UCLA's Schoenberg Hall, which is waiving admission to honor Jacaranda's 10th anniversary. Jacaranda's inaugural season featured an adventurous young string quartet known as Denali, which played with the series until 2010. Denali was succeeded by Lyris as quartet in residence. This free 'Continental Harmony' concert will be entirely devoted to the Lyris Quartet, playing 20th-century American string quartet repertoire spanning 80 years. For the occasion, Lyris will open with their debut performance of the String Quartet No. 2 by Charles Ives (1911-13), followed by a Jacaranda signature work from 1973, String Quartet No. 4, 'Amazing Grace,' by Ben Johnston. String Quartet No. 5 by Philip Glass (1991), a Lyris specialty, will be followed with String Quartet No. 3 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

The Los Angeles Times writes that film star Audrey Totter passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013, after suffering a stroke and congestive heart failure. She was 95.

Eleanor Parker, who played 'Baroness Elsa Schrader' in the 1966 film The Sound of Music starring Julie Andrews, passed away today, December 9, 2013. She was 91.
