Joanna Christie is a British actress best known for her work on stage and screen. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1982, Christie grew up in a creative family and began acting at a young age. She went on to study drama at the University of Hull and later trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Christie made her Broadway debut in 2014 in the play "Once," based on the 2006 film of the same name.
Before her Broadway debut, Christie had already made a name for herself on the London stage. She appeared in numerous productions at the National Theatre, including "The White Guard" and "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time." She also starred in the West End production of "The Lion in Winter" alongside Robert Lindsay.
In addition to her stage work, Christie has also appeared on television and in film. She played the role of Tania in the BBC drama "Inspector George Gently" and appeared in the film "Nina Forever." She also had a recurring role in the second season of the Netflix series "Narcos."
Christie's most recent work includes the 2020 film "The Nest," directed by Sean Durkin. The film tells the story of a couple who move from America to England in the 1980s in search of a better life. Christie plays the role of Gayle, a friend of the main character played by Carrie Coon. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received positive reviews from critics.
