NYU Steinhardt To Stage Dialogues Of The Carmelites

NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present Dialogues of the Carmelites from March 29-April 1, 2018. The opera in three acts features music by Francis Poulenc and libretto by the composer after Georges Bernanos' play Dialogues des Carmelites. The English translation is by Joseph Machlis. Michael Scarola is the stage director and NYU Steinhardt's Michael Ricciardone is the music director.

Star of the Day Productions will present Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Fri-Sun, May 6-21, 2016 at McCoole's Arts & Events Place in Quakertown, PA. Direction and musical staging by Andrea Cartagena of Easton,PA, musical direction by Rich Lovallo of Newfoundland, NJ, and vocal direction by Susan McDermott of Allentown, PA. (Sputter, gasp wheeze) There, I can breathe again. So you know when you go to a show and there's that one actor on stage who is so good, so funny, that the show and the other actors just kind of revolve around them like some theatrical sun warming all in its orbit? OK, now imagine an entire stage filled with that actor and you'll have the Seattle Rep's current production of "The Servant of Two Masters" which kicks off their 51st season not with a bang but with a hearty belly laugh that lasts for two and a half hours.
Guthrie Theater Offers First-Ever 'Tweet Seats', Beginning Tonight at THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS

The Guthrie Theater today announced that beginning tonight, December 27, the theater will offer its first-ever 'Tweet Seats' during four consecutive Thursday performances of The Servant of Two Masters, allowing social media users an opportunity to interact during the show. A limited number of seats located in a balcony level of the McGuire Proscenium in a section that will not be disruptive to other patrons will be designated as Tweet Seats. Tweet Seat tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, and mentioning 'Tweet.' Tickets are not available online, with other offers, or on previously purchased tickets. Handing fees may apply.

CTC Production of Dr. Seuss' THE CAT IN THE HAT Continues at Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Now thru 12/21

Continuing in the tradition of creating original work by Dr. Seuss, CTC presented the U.S. premiere of The National Theatre of Great Britain's adaptation of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat in what the Star Tribune in Minneapolis called a "festive feeding of children's imaginations." CTC has accepted an invitation to bring their acclaimed production of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat to the Manitoba Theatre for Young People in Winnipeg (Canada) tonight, December 7-21, 2012 immediately following its run here in the Twin Cities.

Adapted by Constance Congdon from a translation of Carlo Goldoni by Christina Sibul, this comedy features Steven Epp (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Caretaker; Theatre de la Jeune Lune: actor, writer, director, co-artistic director 1983-2008) as the wily servant Truffaldino and Guthrie favorite Sarah Agnew (Guthrie: Time Stands Still, The 39 Steps; Theatre de la Jeune Lune company member 1995-2001) as the strong-willed Beatrice in the story of a servant scheming to fill his pockets and his stomach by serving two masters at once.
