On September 19, 2014, Broadway Worldwide, Inc. and Chinese media entrepreneur Dr. Bruno Wu's Sun New Light Culture Development Limited, a part of Sun Seven Stars Entertainment Media Group, today announced a joint venture agreement to create Broadway Worldwide Entertainment Media (BWEM).

The New York Times writes that Broadway Worldwide, the company behind movie theater screenings of Broadway's MEMPHIS, is partnering with Chinese media company New Sun Light to film and distribute two to four musicals, captured live in HD, each year.

Broadway Worldwide Inc, executed two significant distribution deals in late July to bring its Direct from Broadway titles to viewers across the country through SpectiCast's all digital network of theatrical exhibition venues and Swank Motion Pictures' extensive non theatrical market reach that includes cruise ships, schools, churches and hospitals.

Broadway's Memphis, winner of four Tony Awards® including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book and Best Orchestrations, comes to THIRTEEN's Great Performances Friday, February 24 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). Featuring the original Broadway cast, including Tony nominees Chad Kimball and Montego Glover, as well as Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway, James Monroe Iglehart, Michael McGrath and Cass Morgan. Memphis is the historic first Best Musical Tony Award winner to air on U.S. national television with its original principals while simultaneously continuing a successful Broadway run and national tour.

Shout! Factory and Broadway Worldwide, Inc. today announced a new deal to bring Broadway's 2010 Tony Award®-winning Best Musical MEMPHIS to the home entertainment marketplace in the U.S. and Canada. Under this multi-year agreement, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive home entertainment distributor to release MEMPHIS featuring the original Broadway cast, on Blu-rayTM, DVD and for digital download. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory's founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Broadway Worldwide's founder and CEO Bruce Brandwen.

In addition to the electrifying musical, audiences will be treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the musical that won four 2010 Tony Awards® and continues to play to sold out houses on Broadway. The 2010 Tony Award® winning Best Musical MEMPHIS will be captured live-in-performance by Broadway Worldwide for high definition exhibition in digital cinemas nationwide this spring. For the first time ever, audiences around the country will be able to experience Broadway's current Tony Award® winning Best Musical in their own home town movie theatre during its Tony Award®-winning year. The Broadway production of MEMPHIS will be captured live during regularly scheduled performances January 18-21st at the Shubert Theatre, utilizing multiple high definition cameras and 96 tracks of sound recording.
