27th Annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival Announces this Year's Award Winners


The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today the winners for this year's festival.  Awards were given to films in the U.S. Documentary, International, Sports, Southern and Short Feature categories as well as an Audience Award for overall documentary at the festival.

Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Due to popular demand, Illyria at Taproot Theatre is extending through August 17, giving people an additional week to catch the show that critics and audiences are raving about.

A mistaken identity sets off a chain of events that has everything topsy-turvy. As these classic characters sing of romance and shenanigans, you'll be transported to a mythical land of love. On the heels of its most successful season yet, Taproot Theatre Company opens its 35th Anniversary Season with The Odyssey, a mythic tale of epic proportions re-told by playwright Mary Zimmerman with her trademark humor, witty twists and imagination. Homer's ancient Greek epic comes alive with mythological monsters, gods and adventurers and one of the most enduring stories in history. The Odyssey-an adaptation based on Robert Fitzgerald's translation of Homer's poem, and directed by producing artistic director Scott Nolte-kicks off the 2011 season with an opening night on February 4. The production runs through March 5, with previews on February 2 and 3.

Featuring the story and songs of an immortal classic, this Tony Award-winning musical comes to the Taproot stage with fresh, acoustic arrangements. Don Quixote is mad... mad enough to dream an impossible dream while tilting after windmills with his trusty sidekick, Sancho Panza. Quixote's romantic quest is as crazy as he is. But is his impossible dream madness or vision? The trial is about to begin. Man of La Mancha provides a glimpse into the Spanish literature that inspired Picasso, before Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris opens at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) in October. Inspired by Spanish writers including Cervantes, Picasso wove characters such as Don Quixote-a revolutionary like himself-into some of his art. Man of La Mancha, directed by producing artistic director Scott Nolte with musical direction by Edd Key, opens on July 9 and runs through August 7, with low-price previews on July 7 and 8, plus a pay-what-you-can performance on July 14.
