The BLUEBARN Theatre goes "OVER The Edge" for its 25th Anniversary Season as it announces the 2013-2014 lineup of shows. The season, which begins in September with the opening of the Tony Award-winning play, God of Carnage, marks a milestone as the theatre produces three regional premieres and the return of a holiday favorite.

The BLUEBARN also celebrates next season with the announcement that, in addition to local talent, professional Equity actors will be engaged for every production. In keeping with The BLUEBARN's core value of producing professional theatre in Omaha, Nebraska, the theatre pays all actors, directors, designers and technicians - local and professional - who work for the BLUEBARN, a practice which the BLUEBARN will continue into its next 25 years and beyond.

The full lineup of Season 25 shows...

God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton (September 26 - October 18, 2013)

Two high-strung couples decide to meet one evening for a civilized discussion about a playground altercation between their two young sons. What follows is a comically explosive downhill slide from polite, political correctness to full-on character assassination. This hilarious 2009 TONY Award winner for Best Play was adapted into a film (Carnage, 2011) and was a success in its original language, French. It has been equally acclaimed in its other English-translated productions in both London and New York.

Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol by Tom Mula SPONSORED BY OMAHA STEAKS Back by popular demand! (November 29 - December 22, 2013)

Jacob Marley returns to The BLUEBARN as a re-mount of the wildly successful 2010 production! "Marley was dead, to begin with..." - and what happens to Ebenezer Scrooge's mean, sour, pruney old business partner after that? Chained and shackled, Marley is condemned to a hellish eternity. He's even given his own private tormentor: a malicious little hell-sprite who thoroughly enjoys his work. Desperate, Marley accepts his one chance to free himself: To escape his own chains, he must first redeem Scrooge. So begins a journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal, during which Scrooge's heart, indeed, is opened; but not before Marley-in this irreverent, funny and deeply moving story-discovers his own.Gnit by Will Eno *MIDWEST PREMIERE* (February 20 - March 15, 2014)

Is laziness the opposite of love? Is the search for the Self for total nobodies? Watch closely as Peter Gnit, a funny-enough but so-so specimen of humanity, makes a lifetime of bad decisions, on the search for his True Self, which is disintegrating while he searches. Gnit is written by Will Eno, the winner of the 2012 PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award, and premiered at the 37th Humana Festival of New American Plays in March 2013. This hot-off-the-press cautionary tale by one of the biggest names in Contemporary Theatre is a faithful, unfaithful, and willfully American misreading of Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt, a 19th century Norwegian play which is famous for all the wrong reasons. The BLUEBARN's production will be the regional premiere of this work.

33 Variations by Moises Kaufman FEATURING ACCLAIMED PIANIST HAL FRANCE (May 8 - June 8, 2014)

A mother coming to terms with her daughter. A composer coming to terms with his genius. And, even though they're separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that might, even just for a moment, make time stand still. Drama, memory and music combine to transport you from present-day New York to 19th-century Austria, in this extraordinary new American play about passion, parenthood and the moments of beauty that can transform a life. 33 Variations is an elegant waltz between past and present, fact and speculation, a mother and daughter, and art and life. This 2009 TONY Award-winning show was written by Moises Kaufman, the acclaimed playwright who penned The Laramie Project and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde.

The BLUEBARN Theatre has been bringing professionally-produced plays to area audiences since its inception in 1989. Since that time, BLUEBARN has produced over 90 plays and has established itself as Omaha's premier Contemporary Theatre company. Striving to bring artistically significant scripts and professional production values to Omaha and the surrounding region, BLUEBARN is known for high quality entertainment and the fearless pursuit of stories that challenge both theatre artists and patrons.
