BLUEBARN Theatre holds auditions for Eric Bogosian's Pulitzer Prize-nominated drama, TALK RADIO, on Sunday, July 18th at 5:30pm and Monday, July 19th at 6:30pm. Auditions will be held at the Downtown Space, 614 S. 11th St. The producation runs from September 30th to October 16th with performances on Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. Please call (402) 345-1576 for more information. The complete 22nd season is also announced.

The roles still available are three females, ages 20-45, and five men, ages 20-55. The role of "Barry Champlain" has been cast. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Callbacks may be held at a later date if needed. BLUEBARN's Artistic Director, Susan Clement-Toberer directs.

Barry Champlain, Cleveland's controversial radio host is on the air doing what he does best: insulting the pathetic souls who call in the middle of the night to sound off. Tomorrow, Barry's show is going into national syndication and his producer is afraid that Barry will say something that will offend the sponsors. This, of course, makes Barry even more outrageous. Funny and moving, off-beat, outrageous and totally entrancing, Bogosian's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play still resonates almost 20 years after its Off-Broadway debut. Film star, Liev Schreiber, starred in the 2007 gut-grabbing revival.

Besides TALK RADIO, the rest of the 2010-2011 season at BLUEBARN include JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL from November 26th to December 18th, THREE TALL WOMEN from March 10th to April 2nd, and REEFER MADNESS - THE MUSICAL from June 2nd to June 26th.

JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL was written by Tom Mula and asks the question "What happens to Ebenezer Scrooge's mean, sour, pruney old business partner after that?" Chained and shackled, Marley is condemned to a hellish eternity. He's even given his own private tormentor: a malicious little hell-sprite who thoroughly enjoys his work. Desperate, Marley accepts his one chance to free himself: To escape his own chains, he must first redeem Scrooge. So begins a journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal, during which Scrooge's heart, indeed, is opened; but not before Marley-in this irreverent, funny and deeply moving story-discovers his own.

THREE TALL WOMEN is wickedly funny, and is told with uncompromising truth. The Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama takes a long, hard look at the arc of one human life from the perspectives of three different generations-one woman in youth, one woman in middle age, and one woman lying on her death bed. As the elder woman reflects on her life, she develops clarity of mind that transcends her debilitated body.

Back by popular demand, REEFER MADNESS - THE MUSICAL is based on the 1936 propaganda film. This raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence. BLUEBARN Theatre is proud to revive one of the most successful productions in their 22-year history.

The BLUEBARN Theatre was established in the late 1980s with graduates from the Professional Theatre Training Conservatory at the State University of New York at Purchase. Seeking to continue the deeply shared artistic aesthetic and practice that they had developed from their conservatory training, the founding members joined forces with Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts to produce their first play. Now in its 22nd season, the BLUEBARN has established itself as Omaha's premier Contemporary Theatre company. After producing over 80 plays since 1989, the BLUEBARN is known for high quality entertainment and the fearless pursuit of stories that challenge theatre artists and patrons.
