Wallis Knot Theatre premieres their new play Between Two Worlds at HERE, May 2011. Between Two Worlds is a refreshing and addictive feel-good romance, a tonic for this age of cynicism, that celebrates the Hollywood romances of a bygone era. This romantic comedy-drama set in England during WWII tells the story of an American pilot shot down over the Channel without a parachute. He awakens on the coast of England. He believes himself dead. But is he? After falling in love with his nurse, he is interrupted by a bumbling Angle of Death and shuttled to a heavenly tribunal in order to defend his life. Can love alone save this man's hopes and dreams?

Between Two Worlds blends a romance as thrilling as a kiss on the cheek, from the time when women wore gloves and men opened doors, with a romping comedy a la the Marx Brothers, complete with witty word play, talking at crossed purposes, invisible characters, and frozen moments in time. Between Two Worlds is a simple romantic comedy that delves into the distinctly non-simple topic of life and death...and love.

The old Hollywood style plot is interwoven with a variety of dances, including a salsa dancing American soldier, aerialist angels dangling from ropes and dancing with toy airplanes, and a romantic pas de deux - or two. The blatant theatricality of the Empty Space conjures the unexpected while inspiring imagination and hope.

Tickets are $15.00 and are available at www.here.org or call 212-352-3101. Performances are scheduled for Sunday, May 15, Monday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 18 at 7:00pm. HERE is located at 145 6th Avenue in New York City.

The show is written, designed and directed by Eileen Connolly, Artistic Director and Founder of Wallis Knot Theatre. Choreography is by Sean Roschman as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between their two companies, Wallis Knot and Roschman Dance (www.roschmandance.com ), which began last summer as part of their artist residency at NYU.
The production features: Andhy Mendez, Annalisa Chamberlin, Joseph Goodrich (2009 Edgar award winning playwright), Connie Rotunda, Sarah Carradine (Australian opera writer/director), Kyle Quiring, Sean Roschman (Artistic Director of Roschman Dance; Cirque du soleil choreographer), and Dannie Flanagan.

Wallis Knot is led by Artistic Director Eileen Connolly who creates, directs and designs all the productions. Eileen is a director and graphic artist who has worked as a professional actress Off-Broadway and regionally, with such luminaries as Charles Busch, Betty Comden and Adolf Green. She has been commissioned to write original works by theaters and schools, such as the University of Vermont and NYCDA, which include: The Birds, Macbeth, Let It Be, and The Duchess of Malfi. She has choreographed for the Irish Repertory Theater in NYC, painted a cow for the NYC Cow Parade which was displayed in Rockefeller Plaza, and has created and constructed costumes for companies like Roschman Dance of New York, and The Wilma Theater and The Caravan Children's Theater in Philadelphia. Eileen has an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Minnesota, and currently teaches Voice and Shakespeare.

Wallis Knot is a not for profit experimental theatre company, founded in 2003 by Eileen Connolly, dedicated to creating new works that recreate and reinvent the classics. Our plays and dance theater pieces combine multiple genres and performance styles with dance, music, multimedia projections, languages and the occasional puppet. Wallis Knot supports new playwrights by hosting "Meet the Writer" reading and book signing events. We host a "Closed Out Of Town" reading series presenting long forgotten theatrical gems that closed out of town before ever making their Broadway debut, thus remaining unpublished and unavailable to a modern audience. And, with the premiere publication of the play Between Two Worlds, Wallis Knot Theatre Press was launched.
This production is presented through HEREstay, HERE's curated rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as technical and administrative support.
