York Theatre Company's LOVE, LINDA Begins Performances Tonight

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Director), presents acclaimed jazz vocalist Stevie Holland in the Off-Broadway premiere of the tour-de-force musical Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter. Love, Linda has book by Ms. Holland with Gary William Friedman, music & lyrics by Cole Porter, and arrangements & additional music by Mr. Friedman. Tony Award-winner Richard Maltby, Jr. is the Director.

Performances begin TONIGHT, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. for a limited engagement through Sunday, January 5, 2014 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter is a one-woman, tour de force musical and theatrical journey, starring acclaimed jazz vocalist Stevie Holland.Love, Linda explores the life of Linda Lee Thomas, the Southern beauty who, at the dawn of the Roaring Twenties, married and was a driving force behind legendary songwriter Cole Porter. Though Porter was gay, their companionship and love lasted through 35 years of marriage and together they lived a spectacular, glamour-filled life. With swinging, jazz-inflected arrangements by award-winning composer Gary William Friedman, Cole Porter's timeless music and lyrics weave through the compelling narrative written by Holland and Friedman, celebrating the deep love that Linda and Cole shared, while examining the darker sides of their life. The score for Love, Linda includes such belovEd Porter songs as "Night and Day", "I Love Paris," "In the Still of the Night" and "Love for Sale."

Music direction will be by Christopher McGovern, and the band will feature Danny Weller on bass and Alex Wyatt on drums.

The creative team includes James Morgan (set), Graham Kindred (lights), Carl Casella (sound) and Kevin Maloof (props) with a dress designed byPamela Dennis and jewelry designed by Siman Tu. The Production Stage Manager is Elis Arroyo.

Kennedy, that featured Frank Anderson, Stephen Lee Anderson, Wilson Bridges, PatRick Cummings, Jessica Grové, Julia Johanos, Anne Kanengeiser, Erick Pinnick, Lauren Sterling, Debra Walton, and William Zeffiro, and the Developmental Lab presentation of the musical Buddy's Tavern, with book by Raymond De Felitta, music by Kim Oler, and lyrics by Alison Hubbard, that featuredAndrea Burns, Angela DeCicco, Wally Dunn, Darius de Haas, Alexander Gemignani, Jessica Grové and Joe Ricci. 2014 begins with The Sheldon Harnick Musicals in Mufti Series featuring the world premiere of a new revue, Sheldon Harnick: A World to Win (January 17-19, 2014), Dragons (January 31-February 2, 2014), followed byMalpractice Makes Perfect (February 14-16, 2014), Smiling, The Boy Fell Dead (February 21-23, 2014) and the Broadway classic, Tenderloin (March 7-9, 2014). The spring Mainstage production will be the world premiere of the new musical, Inventing Mary Martin (April 15-May18, 2014).
