Matt Mezzacappa to Read for 'Peter' in THE LOST BOY at Actors Temple Today
Matt Mezzacappa, who made his Broadway debut in the Original Cast-World Premiere of the Menken/Ahrens/Ockrent A Christmas Carol as Tiny Tim has assumed the role of Peter in "The Lost Boy" by the late Ron Palillo for tonight's Benefit Reading, October 14 at 7:30pm at Actors Temple Theatre, Off-Broadway.
Gisueppe Basillio who was set to play the role opposite Blake Hammond, currently co-starring in Broadway's "First Date" has been cast and is currently in rehearsals for an October 10 opening in a featured role of the Broadway hit musical, "Disney's Newsies".
In addition, to playing Tiny Tim in the original cast, Mezzacappa is also heard on the original cast recording. This summer he appeared as Prince Edward in Richard III (Boomerang Theatre Company/Central Park), His regional credits: The Shakespeare Stealer (Kennedy Center Theatre Lab), To Kill A Mockingbird (Olney Theatre Center), A Midsummer's Night's Dream (National Players Summer Shakespeare), The Royal Hunt of the Sun (Washington Shakespeare Company), The Grapes of Wrath (Arden Theatre Company), Six Characters in Search of An Author (People's Light and Theatre Company--the Barrymore Award Outstanding Overall Production). In addition, Matt is an accomplished playwright/lyricist.
The one-night benefit will provide a scholarship in the name of Ron Palillo (best known as Arnold Horshack in the 70's TV phenomonon, "Welcome Back Kotter") and will raise funds for Friends Always Creating Theatre to produce a full-scale spring production of this important play said to be "destined to become a masterpiece."
Appearing along side Hammond and Mezzacappa will be Arthur Atkinson as J.M. Barrie with Lucy Sorlucco, Megan Thomas, Danielle Erin Rhodes, and Gus Ferrari. Lynn Manuell reads stage directions. Jack Dyville is Producing Artistic Director with David Gillam Fuller, associate producer.
