Violinist Janine Jansen performs all over the world and can regularly be heard as a soloist with the world's biggest orchestras. Now the Dutch superstar is finally coming to the Oslo Opera House.
"Janine Jansen plays Bach with a freshness and spontaneity that is hard to beat," wrote the BBC Music Magazine critic on Jansen's recording of Bach's violin concertos. But then, the 37-year-old is also counted among the very greatest of contemporary violinists – a true star whom the major concert halls and orchestras are falling over each other to book.
She appears regularly with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmoniker and the New York Philharmonic, and works with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano and Mariss Jansons, to name just a few.
Together with up-and-coming pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk, Jansen offers violin gems by Poulenc, Brahms, Szymanowski and Prokofiev.
As well as an extensive solo career, Jansen is also a passionate chamber musician. She has founded her own chamber music festival in the Dutch city of Utrecht, and has played with artists such as Mischa Maisky, Maxim Vengerov and Leif Ove Andsnes.
