Due to personal circumstances, the role of David in Firehouse's upcoming production of THE BOY IN THE BATHROOM that John Mincks was cast in will now be played by Denver Crawford.

Adam B. Ferguson, The Boy in the Bathroom tells the profound and compelling story of David who hasn't come out of the bathroom for a year. He is OCD and is trying to write his thesis in an environment that he can control. His devoted and protective mother Pam tries her best to make him comfortable, until she breaks her hip and Julie enters their lives. Inspired by real events, this new musical explores why we sometimes lock ourselves in prisons of our own making to resist the risk of life's uncertainty and the pull of change.

When asked about the Firehouse production and being in residence for the process Lluberes said, "We're thrilled to be a part of this new season and new chapter for Firehouse, and are looking forward to this exciting new look at our show."

The Boy in The Bathroom won the New York Musical Theater Festival Award for Most Promising New Musical, was the Richard Rodgers Award finalist for Best Book, and won the American Harmony Prize. Praise for The Boy in the Bathroom includes BroadwayWorld -- "emotionally-powerful," NYTheatre.com -- "a great modern musical," Theater Corps -- "An amusing romp into both fantasy and reality," and TheatreMania -- "disturbing and utterly riveting."

The ensemble of The Boy in the Bathroom includes RVA performers Denver Crawford (David),Rebecca Turner (Julie), and Catherine Shaffner*. The production team includes Starlet Knight (music director), Tennessee Dixon (scenic and projection designer), Robby Williams (lighting designer), Maggie McGrann (costume designer), Andy Santalla (properties master), and Trey Tetreault (production stage manager).
