Creative Cauldron's 7th Annual Passport to the World Concert Series will be held from January 7th to January 29th, 2017 at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 South Maple Avenue. Sponsored by Mark F. Werblood, Esq. and curated by local musicians Lynn Véronneau and Ken Avis (of acclaimed jazz-fusion group VERONNEAU who will kick off the series), The Passport to the World Concert Series treats audiences to musical performances from a broad spectrum of genres: jazz, Latin, Celtic, classical, delta blues, and American folk.

A special inauguration day performance Songs of Protest, Songs of Triumph by Shenandoah Run will feature iconic songs of the 60s protest era. Original songs that speak to the country's current wave of protest will also be performed by guest singer/songwriters. Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at 7:30 PM - VERONNEAU

International acoustic quartet, the Wammy-award winning, Veronneau performs a delicious blend of bossa nova, jazz, samba and swing in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese that has been captivating festival, concert hall and jazz club audiences across North America and Europe. www.veronneaumusic.com

Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at 7 PM - José André Montaño

11 year old José André Montaño is a jazz pianist and composer. Born blind in Cochabamba, Bolivia he taught himself to play piano from an early age. His playful and inspired compositions bridge jazz, rock, blues, bossa nova, latin American folklore and world music. Despite his young age, André has already played festivals in La Paz, Rome, and London and has performed on The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. www.facebook.com/JoseAndre.bo/about

Friday, January 13th at 7:30 PM - IONA Celtic Quintet

IONA weaves together the traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, the Isle of Man, Asturies and Galicia (Spain), and American Folk. Saturday, January 14th at 7:30 PM - Brazil Passion

A Creative Cauldron exclusive featuring some of DC's finest Brazilian performers including Cissa Paz, Sharalys Silva and Pablo de Oliveira. Brazil Passion is an exploration of the rich tapestry of Brazil's regional cultures, featuring samba, bossa, choro and more. Please note that, since the floor will be used for dance, this performance has limited table availability.

Sunday, January 15th at 2:00 PM - Dr. Jim Thorne presents To Follow Apollo

Dr. Jim Thorne is a singer, songwriter and space scientist. In To Follow Apollo, he tells the musical story of Tommy and Laura, two young space explorers who go to the moon and beyond. Friday, January 20th at 7:30 PM - Shenandoah Run: Songs of Protest, Songs of Triumph

Creative Cauldron welcomes back Shenandoah Run for a special concert celebrating folk music and the power it has to heal and unify. The nine-member ensemble will perform the iconic songs that galvanized a generation during another time when our country was deeply divided. The Star of Signature Theatre's Jelly's Last Jam comes to Creative Cauldron with his acclaimed quintet. Mark G. Meadows is a Jazz composer, pianist, vocalist and teacher dedicated to a unifying sound that breaks through social barriers. Saturday, April 9th at 7:30 PM - Words & Music Presents: "Jukebox Romance"

Words & Music, Inc. is a Northern Virginia based vocal chamber ensemble, presenting innovative programs of classical and contemporary music. Their ensemble will play a new concert using Shumann's Spanishes Liederspiel as a framework to weave together art song, musical theatre and the American songbook. Sunday, January 29th at 7:00 PM - Anacostia Delta - "The Storytellers Concert"

Dave Chappell, Anthony Pirog, John Previti and Barry Hart recently starred in the new documentary Anacostia Delta: Home of the World's Great "Unknown" Guitarists about legendary DC guitarists Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan. Now at Creative Cauldron, these musicians tell the stories and play the music of their days with the legendary Telecaster Masters of D.C., keeping alive the intoxicating mix of blues, jazz, and country that characterized the Anacostia Delta sound.
