Cadence Theatre Company & Virginia Repertory Theatre's DETROIT Opens Tonight
Cadence Theatre Company in partnership with Virginia Repertory Theatre presents the Richmond premiere of Lisa D'Amour's Pulitzer Prize-nominated and Obie Award-winning play, Detroit. Detroit runs May 1-May 24, 2014 (opens May 3rd) with a Talk Back Sunday post-show discussion on Sunday, May 11th. Local psychiatrist Dr. Neil Sonenklar will facilitate.
Detroit is a dark comedy which takes the suburban American dream and exposes it as a ridiculous hoax. The New York Post says that D'Amour's piercing scrutiny "totally nails the great, deep malaise of middle-class suburbia, with a sustained energy and a wicked eye for telling details." First performed by Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, Detroit has recently finished a successful run off-Broadway.
