After months of preparation, including hours spent with an expert swordsman, Barter Theatre's Resident Acting Company will take up the gauntlet for themselves in the upcoming fall production of "The Three Musketeers" beginning tonight, September 12.

This witty and action-packed tale of Musketeers delves into a world where honor and love matter above all else. Carefully guarded secrets, double crossings, kidnappings, lavish sword fights and sweeping romance all develop as the Musketeers duel their way toward glory.

"The Three Musketeers" will feature many of Barter's most prominent actors and actresses with swords in hand. Sean Maximo Campos, Justin Tyler Lewis and Andrew Hampton Livingston will take on the Musketeers as Athos, Aramis and Porthos to fight for honor, love and glory with their companion, D'Artagnan, played by Joseph Matthew Veale.

"This production will keep one leg firmly rooted in the cavalier period where the story originates, but it will also have a foot planted in more modern influences. We took away all the lace and feathers in favor of leather and a little grit," said "The Three Musketeers" director Katy Brown.

"The Three Musketeers" is made possible by CGI and Wells Fargo Advisors. Barter Theatre, the nation's longest running professional theatre, is funded in part by The National Endowment for the Arts and The Virginia Commission for the Arts.
