THE ACTUAL DANCE to Launch National Tour

In the 33rd year of Sam's marriage to his teenage sweetheart something happened... something terrible. With one word, Sam's life was turned upside-down. His wife had cancer. The word rang in Sam's ear like an orchestra playing the music of his life - it was what he eventually called THE ACTUAL DANCE.

The prospect of losing the love of his life was so powerful that it took nearly a decade for Sam to share the story and he has done so through the theater. Sam has written for us the incredible journey of the love partner journey as caregiver. He shares this journey with anyone who'll listen - and listen they did. After a sold-out extended run on Off-Broadway's Theatre Row, Sam - fueled by ardent requests from theater and institutions across the country -- now begins the National Tour of THE ACTUAL DANCE.

"This play is a tribute, a gift to the silent side of caregiving" says Simon, an original member of Ralph Nader's very first legal advocacy group in Washington, DC in the 70s. He was a regular in the national news, appearing in program such as Face the Nation, The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, The Nightly News, Phil Donahue Show, and the Oprah Winfrey Show, among others.

THE ACTUAL DANCE has emerged as a compelling, award-winning theater experience, one that touches the heart, and prepares all who see it for what might lie ahead in some way for all of us. Already acclaimed and decorated (2013 Northern Virginia Theater Alliance Awards and an official Selection of the 2013 Midtown International Theatre Festival (NYC) and the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival (DC), THE ACTUAL DANCE will now tour the country bringing a message of faith and perseverance.

Sam has a few engagements left in New York and Long Island before returning to Washington where he will begin the tour. Performances are already booked across the country with Texas and Florida as opening locations. More venues are confirming every day. THE ACTUAL DANCE can perform at theaters, schools, hospitals, churches, medical schools, and institutes.
