Today Des Moines Performing Arts announced the winners of the "Bridges Covered" Music Competition, a competition where Iowa-based musicians, both amateur and professional, submitted their "cover" on one of composer Jason Robert Brown's songs from THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. The 2014 Tony Award®-winning musical, which won Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, will launch its national tour at the Des Moines Civic Center Saturday, Nov. 28 - Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.

The winners are The Brazilian 2wins, a Cedar Falls/Des Moines-based quartet who submitted their interpretation of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY'S "Home Before You Know It," featuring classical roots and an urban influence. A panel of judges chose the submission because it captured the essence of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY score while creatively interpreting the song with the group's own style and influence.

As a result of their win, The Brazilian 2wins recorded a session at Alexander Recording Kompany in Ames to professionally record and master their arrangement. A video team was also on hand to produce a music video.

Dennis Haislip, proprietor of Alexander Recording Kompany and a partner in the "Bridges Covered" Music Competition said, "Des Moines Performing Arts is doing something pretty incredible for artists who deserve it."

Interpretations of music from THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY were submitted from across Iowa, ranging from solo piano to full band arrangements. The "Bridges Covered" Music Competition was funded in part by The Broadway League and presented by Des Moines Performing Arts.

Growing up in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, twin brothers Walter and Wagner found solace in classical music on violins their father handmade. Their love of music and desire to positively impact the world led them on a wild ride to the United States in pursuit of the biggest stages in the world. From the moment they step on the stage, you know what you are about to see is going to be different. Twin brothers Walter and Wagner have a smile that sucks you in before a note is even played.
