Street Theatre Company will be holding auditions for the ClassAct Dramatics youth production, BIG BAD MUSICAL, for ages 7 to 15 today, May 30, 10-2pm at Tulip Street United Methodist Church in East Nashville.

Prepare a short monologue, story, or poem no more than one minute and a verse and chorus of a song. No accompanist will be provided but feel free to bring a CD track.

Rehearsals will be June 15-July 3, from 9am to 12pm Monday thru Friday, and July 3-10th, from 9am to 2pm, with performances July 10-18, Fridays at 7 and Saturdays at 2 & 7. If cast, there is a participation fee of $150 (scholarships may be available based on financial need).

ABOUT THE SHOW:

A courtroom has never been more lively and fun! In this smart and wickedly funny musical, the jury - the audience - must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world! The notorious Big Bad Wolf is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybooks of quirky characters who want to get even: Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. With Sydney Grimm as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest - the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother - clash in a trial that will be remembered forever after.

Another option for those with less time or less experience is Street Theatre's Summer Musical Theatre Camps, July 13-17 and July 20-24, from 9am to 4pm, with two age groups; Ages 8-12 (Youth) and Ages 5-7 (Junior). Students can attend one or both weeks. There will be a performance at the end of each week on Saturday at 12:00pm. Please note, students must be available for the performance at the end of the week for which they are enrolled. Tuition: $225 a week per student, $250 including pre- and after-care (scholarships may available based on financial need).

Week One (July 13-17th): Morning sessions will learn songs and choreography from popular Broadway musicals and afternoon sessions will focus on acting skills, with students working on a short skit, all put together in a final performance for family and friends on Saturday, the 18th at 12:00pm.

Week Two (July 20-24): Is a special treat! Students will work on the world premiere of TOM SAWYER & COMPANY, a Musical for Young Voices By Mark Cabaniss and Arranged and Orchestrated by Alan Billingsley. Just imagine Mark Twain interacting with the vivid characters from his classic Americana novel! In this 20-minute musical, the Missouri author takes to the stage with the likes of Tom, Huck, Becky, and Aunt Polly. Along the way, the most memorable moments from Twain's literary masterpiece are presented...such as whitewashing a fence, being pirates on a raft, and getting lost in a cave. The final performance for family and friends on Saturday, July 25th at 12:00pm will be videoed for Alfred Music Publishing Company!

All programs will be held at Bailey Middle School in East Nashville.
