Press loves 'The Ladder':
The Album Project named 'The Ladder' the #1 Album of 2010! Their reporter said, " 'The Ladder'... is one of the best night driving albums I've heard in a long time."
The Chicago Tribune compares and contrasts Andrew Belle to Andrew Bird
American Way Magazine says, "Our affinity for the 24-year-old singer-songwriter is in the best taste. Belle sings about love and love lost on his first full-length album..."
The Deli Chicago says, "The build up for his debut album has been warranted for Andrew Belle really does have a magical voice. Belle splits time between Chicago and Nashville and that mixture of musical cultures is vibrantly demonstrated in his music."
The Examiner says, "Every now and then, some perfectly sublime pop music seeps into the slipstream. Such is the case with Andrew Belle and his debut full-length, The Ladder. Strictly as a point of reference, Belle's intonation sounds a bit like Coldplay's Chris Martin or Blue Merle's Luke Reynolds. But when it comes to lyricism, neither of the two crooners have anything on Belle."
Fense Post says, "Contemporary folk-pop is an arena that is swamped with imitators, yet a select few artists stand out above the rest. Andrew Belle is one such artist..."Static Waves" hits all the right points - it's catchy and plush and clean and colorful. There's a lot going on here, a lot more than your typical artist fitting this genre descriptor. It's easy to hear why Belle was selected to open for Ben Folds, although I'd also put him in the same camp as masters like Andrew Bird."
Knox Road says, "The orchestral mix of strings, bells and keys makes "Static Waves" an immediate go-getter. Bottom line: It's a pop treasure; one that you'll soon be hearing on TV and everyone will be going, "what's that song??" But you, my friends, will know."
Direct Current says, "First track from Ladders, "Static Waves" (featuring TOT tour cohort Katie Herzig) is a scarily infectious gem of staggered rhythms and detailed construction with an ear candy hook of monumental proportions."
Illinois Entertainer says, "There's a lot to take pride in."
Indie Rock Cafe says, "After you hear the magnificent live cover of Bright Eyes ', "First Day of My Life," and the wonderfully memorable, "Static Waves," you'll probably not forgot Andrew Belle anytime soon."
