BUTCHER by Nicolas Billon, one of Canada's hottest young playwrights, not only slayed critics at Centaur Theatre's Quebec premiere but the bone-chilling, serpentine play has been wowing audiences night after night ever since. As a result, the run of the topical political thriller set on Christmas eve, pitting justice against revenge, originally scheduled to end November 29th, has been extended for an additional four performances from Dec. 3rd through the 5th, 2015.

Centaur Theatre is equally pleased to announce that Nicolas Billon will be attending the Sunday November 22nd matinee and stay after the performance to give a free Talkback that all are welcome to attend.

"We're extremely pleased with the reaction to this excellent new play but it's not wholly unexpected", beamed Centaur Theatre's Executive and Artistic Director, Roy Surette. "Nicolas is a very bright and talented writer; merely reading his play is an edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting experience. Add the outstanding set and lighting design, the evocative sound and music, and the brilliant cast ... key ingredients of a can't miss theatrical hit!"

About BUTCHER: Christmas Eve. Present Day. An elderly man wearing a foreign military uniform and a Santa hat is dumped on the front steps of a police station. He doesn't speak English, and a lawyer's business card pierced on a butcher's hook hangs around his neck, bearing the words: ARREST ME. The lawyer and a translator are summoned and from then on aliases and allegiances shock and surprise as the plot unfurls with more twists and turns than a coiled python about to strike. Is this man a notorious war criminal wanted by both Interpol and a group of survivors known as the Furies? An edge-of-your-seat, nail-biter of a nothing-is-as-it-seems tale of war crimes and the murky waters between revenge and justice.

Directed by Roy Surette, BUTCHER has set & costume design by Evita Karasek, lighting design by Martin Sirois, music & sound design by Keith Thomas, fight choreography by Francois Gagnon, stage manager Jacynthe Lalonde, apprentice stage manager Sara Rodriguez, and assistants to the director Tamara Brown and Sophie El-Assaad. Starring are Chip Chuipka, Al Goulem, James Loye and Julie Tamiko Manning.
