This comedy thriller features Detective Morris Brummell & actor Christopher "Kit" Gill who have lots in common: dreams of success being headlined in The NY Times and both contending with overbearing mothers. Morris shares an apt. with his mother, Flora Brummell, while Kit's mother, Alexandra, a recently deceased theatrical actress & star, continues to haunt him. Gill becomes a serial killer fixated on his late mother, so Gill preys on older women who remind him of her. As a Broadway theatre director & costumer, he adopts various disguises, e.g. priest, policeman, plumber, hairdresser, etc., to put his victims at ease (and also avoid being identified) before strangling them & painting a pair of lips on their foreheads with garish red lipstick. Gill strikes up a complicated and funny relationship with Detective Morris Brummel & investigator of the murders.
