Famous, but aging, actress Irina Arkadina is obsessed with a callous younger lover, dismissive of her son the frustrated playwright, and suspicious of an admiring ingénue. Christopher Hampton's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's 1895 play lays bare its comedy and its cruelty in a household overflowing with creativity, fantasies of fame, jealousy, and unrequited love.

The Seagull will be presented in repertory with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and is directed by Irene Crist (The Diary of Anne Frank, Angels in America Parts I & II). The Seagull features Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member Morgan Howard (The Rocky Horror Show; Peter Pan) as Nina and Associate Company Member Oliver Jacob Pierce (Bad Jews; Peter Pan) as Konstantin. Tamara Scott will be returning to the Playhouse on the Square stage as Arkadina. Playhouse audiences might remember her from her time as a Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member where she played memorable roles such as Viola in Twelfth Night and Janet in The Rocky Horror Show. Michael J. Ewing will be making his Playhouse on the Square debut as Trigorin.

Playhouse on the Square will be offering special discounted ticket prices for Sonia and Vanya and Masha and Spike and The Seagull. If tickets are purchased at the same time they will be discounted to $45 or $30 for students/seniors/military. This offer cannot be redeemed online.

The Seagull runs March 12 - 28 at Playhouse on the Square and is sponsored Dorothy O. Kirsch in Memory of Lenore Binswanger. The Pay What You Can performance is Thursday, March 19th and is sponsored by ArtZone/AutoZone and Southland Park Gaming and Racing. Playhouse on the Square is located at 66 S. Cooper St. For more information or to make reservations, please call 901-726-4656 or purchase tickets online at playhouseonthesquare.org
