Emerald Theatre Company had so much fun producing last year's fest, they decided to do it again!

Last year's theme was "Out of the Closet" -- and the cohesive factor was a door on casters that had to be incorporated into every vignette. This year's theme is "That's so gay." To make the vignettes cohesive, that phrase must be spoken by a character in every vignette in any context.

In addition, every script must have 2-4 characters. No children's shows or musicals are allowed. Each script must have a maximum run-time of 10 minutes. (Meaning the script should be no longer than 10 pages.) Each vignette will be staged in strict "black box" style with modest technical support.

Previously produced plays and previously published plays are not eligible.

Our postmark deadline is: June 30, 2017.

The scripts will be judged blind by committee and 8-10 plays will be produced.

The prizes are as follows: 1st prize $300.00 - plus a trophy, 2nd prize $200.00 - plus a medal and 3rd prize $100.00 - plus a medal.

This entry fee for each 10-minute play is $10.00, payable by check or money order.

This project is a labor of love. The only people who get paid are the prize winning playwrights. The entry fee helps us offset our expenses.

Checks should be made out to: E.T.C. Please send 2 copies of the script with no identifying information along with a cover sheet that includes:Title, Playwright's name, address and contact information.

Send entries to: Caroline Sposto, Contest Coordinator PO Box 11450 Memphis, TN 38111
