Music by three of the greatest German composers of the early nineteenth century make up this program: from Weber the Overture to his opera Euryanthe, filled with the composer's characteristic grandeur and brilliance; from Beethoven the first and still best-known concerto ever written for combined violin, cello and piano and from Mendelssohn his classically-chiseled Scottish Symphony, music of gentle charm, melodiousness and imaginative ideas.
