The Ogunquit Playhouse is delighted to announce the casting of John Bolton in the role of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in this summer's production of Mel Brooks' hysterical musical comedy Young Frankenstein, on stage July 10 through July 27. Mr. Bolton takes the lead in this wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend, based on Mel Brooks' film masterpiece, as he attempts to bring a corpse to life with plenty of scary and hilarious complications.

Mr. Bolton starred on Broadway this season as The Old Man in A Christmas Story: the Musical, which will return to New York later this year. For his performance, he received the Footlight Award and a Drama Desk nomination. He was in the original Broadway companies of Spamalot, Contact and Titanic, all three of which won the Tony Award for Best Musical. He also had roles in Broadway's Curtains, How to Succeed..., and Damn Yankees. He made his New York Philharmonic debut in 2012 as soloist and has appeared in many Broadway concerts, including Chance & Chemistry with Paul McCartney, Funny Girl with Whoopi Goldberg, Chess with Josh Groban and the Grammy-nominated Dreamgirls. Off-Broadway he has performed in The Bilbao Effect, It's Only Life, Five Course Love, Einstein's Dreams and many more. Mr. Bolton's television roles include four seasons on Gossip Girl, plus guest starring roles on Boardwalk Empire, The Good Wife, Law and Order: Criminal Intent and many others.

The Ogunquit Playhouse will recreate the Broadway musical, complete with the Tony nominated sets and costumes by Robin Wagner and the original costumes by multi-Tony Award winner, William Ivey Long. Eye-popping special effects and show stopping musical numbers, including "Puttin' on the Ritz" with the tap dancing monsters, will round out this monstrously fun show. Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein the Musical is a co-production with Long Island's Gateway Playhouse. For tickets call the Box Office at 207-646-5511 or online at Ogunquitplayhouse.org.

Following Young Frankentstein, the season continues with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's irresistible family musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from July 31 to August 25. Ballroom with a Twist is back by popular demand for one week only, August 27 to August 31. West Side Story, on stage from September 4 to September 28, soars as the greatest love story of all time and remains as powerful and timely as ever. Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story, the most popular musical in Ogunquit Playhouse history, returns by popular demand to close the season from October 2 to October 13!
