Number one New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward will introduce her new book, The Bourbon Kings, at Actors Theatre Louisville's Pamela Brown Auditorium (316 West Main Street) with an on stage interview by Mayor Greg Fischer on Saturday, August 1 at 1 p.m.

The on stage interview will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing. Tickets are free, but can be reserved by visiting actorstheatre.org/events/an-afternoon-with-j-r-ward-2015-2016/.

Ward's newest novel, The Bourbon Kings, is the first book in an epic family saga set in Kentucky and centered on the Bradfords, an aristocratic family who made their fortune in the bourbon industry. The author describes her eagerly-anticipated new series as "my love letter to my adopted home state, and a cautionary tale of big money, traditional values, and hidden sins."

Set in the land of Derby brunches, competitive horse racing, and centuries-old bourbon production, The Bourbon Kings will appeal to readers of Danielle Steel and Adriana Trigiani, and fans of Empire, Scandal, and Downton Abbey. Ward has created an indelible cast of upstairs/downstairs characters whose lives intersect in a page-turning mix of dark family secrets and double crossings, high stakes business deals, and delicious bad behavior.

Filled with the complex characters, juicy interconnected storylines, and wickedly sharp writing readers have come to expect from J.R. Ward, The Bourbon Kings is a can't put it down ride that updates the family saga and transplants the soapy thrills of Empire and Scandal to the rolling hills of Kentucky.
