Houston Grand Opera will present its 2021-22 season live and in person after a year of reimagining the artform in a virtual format through the 2020-21 HGO Digital season.
Houston Grand Opera (HGO) presents the April installment of Live from The Cullen on April 9. Tune in to HGO Digital and be transported to the Wortham Theater Center's Cullen Theater for a performance by beloved soprano and HGO Studio alumna Nicole Heaston.
Houston Grand Opera has announced the three new singers and nine returning artists who will train with the HGO Studio for 2021–22. The HGO Studio provides comprehensive career development to young singers and pianist/coaches who have demonstrated potential to make major contributions to the artform.
After the triumphant sold-out concert at the Wortham last year—Giving Voice: Lawrence Brownlee and Friends Sing Opera, Gospel, and Standards—internationally renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee returns with his co-host, celebrated soprano, HGO Studio alumna, and frequent HGO collaborator Nicole Heaston.
After carefully weighing options, in accordance with recommendations from global health leaders, Houston Grand Opera has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining mainstage productions for the 2020–21 season. The company now plans to resume live, in-person performance in the fall of 2021.
On Friday, November 27, Houston Grand Opera will present a double billing of Bon Appétit! and The Impresario.
Houston Grand Opera (HGO), Austin Opera (AO), The Dallas Opera (TDO), Fort Worth Opera (FWO), and OPERA San Antonio (OSA) are pleased to announce the creation of the Texas Opera Alliance (TOA), a new partnership of the five companies, designed to advance and protect the future of the art form in Texas.
