Meet the eclectic inhabitants of Tuna, the third-smallest town in Texas, in the fast-paced comedy "Greater Tuna" at the College of the Mainland Community Theatre Sept. 11-28.

Just two actors bring to life 20 quirky Tuna residents, from Didi Snavely, owner of Didi's Used Weapons, to Yippy, a rat-terrier/Chihuahua mix. The parade of characters both familiar and eccentric continues with appearances by the town drunk, snob, disc jockey and busybody.

A high-energy, laughter-filled performance, the comedy will delight audiences as it immortalizes the characters that Texans will recognize as family, friends and neighbors.

Playwrights Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, the creators of "Greater Tuna," put Texas on the theatrical map with an outrageously funny comedy about a little Texas town and the very Texan people who inhabit it. Following its Austin premiere, "Greater Tuna" debuted off-Broadway to become an American classic.

"It's a good time with unapologetically Texan characters," said director Rob de los Reyes. "There's a reason why 'Greater Tuna' and its sequels have been continuously performed over the last 30 years. Sure, it's silly and fun, but it's also so authentically Texan that I swear I'm related to at least half these characters."

The play stars Cameron Dunbar, of Pasadena, and Kyle Crawford, of Houston.

Whether you've never seen the play or are revisiting old friends, you'll enjoy spending time in Tuna, Texas.
