Florida Rep Is On The Road Once More With The Children's Touring Theatre Series!

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the 2014-2015 Children's Touring Theatre Series is now open and accepting bookings for schools and venues throughout Southwest Florida.

The 2014-2015 Children's Theatre Series features two distinctive plays for students of all ages, Journey to Oz for grades 4-8 and The True Story of The Three Little Pigs for grades K-5.

"We are thrilled with the action-packed, interactive touring shows we have headed out to schools this year!" Says Education Director, Lauren Sale, "Audiences of all ages will be in for a lot of ham with the rock musical True Story of the Three Little Pigs; and we couldn't be more excited about the magical adventure of Journey to Oz! Schools will be familiar with the participatory style of Journey to Oz by Christopher Parks who also wrote The Odyssey Experience which toured in our 2012-2013 season."

Each year Florida Repertory Theatre's Education Department produces at least two touring plays for children. These shows are high-energy, educational, and perfect for almost any space.

L. Frank Baum's Oz stories have delighted readers for over century, and starting this fall Southwest Florida audiences will experience this epic adventure like never before! Transported on the wings of a cyclone to the magical Land of Oz, Dorothy and Toto, must find the Wizard before it's too late. This ALL-NEW adaptation puts the audience in the middle of the action as Dorothy and her friends travel down the Yellow Brick Road, battle the Wicked Witch to find the brains, the heart, and the courage they never knew they had!

There are two sides to every story-even The Three Little Pigs! Based on the beloved children's book, this dynamite rock musical goes inside the trial of the century as Alexander T. Wolf answers for his crimes against HAM-anity! Audiences of all ages will huff and puff with laughter as they help to decide the fate of the alleged Big Bad Wolf!

In addition to the performance, each school gets a talk-back with the actors, and receives a study guide packed with additional information about the play, discussion prompts and activities for students. Educators have the option to choose just one or both plays, to be performed on the same or different dates.
