Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse on Oct. 22 for "The Vanishing Pumpkin." This story is part of the 2010-11 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at The Playhouse, Friday, Oct. 22, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. Who stole the pumpkin from the pumpkin patch? In "The Vanishing Pumpkin," an old man and woman have a hankering for some pumpkin pie, but they have no pumpkin! Join them as they encounter a strange assortment of characters in their quest to find the culprit. It's an autumn whodunit!

Friday Funday performances are held monthly, September-May. The new season features a variety of stories, including "The First Moccasins," Nov. 19; "The Gingerbread Boy," Dec. 17; "Snow White," Jan 14; "The Mitten," Feb. 11; "The Golden Goose," Mar. 4; and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," Apr. 8; "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," May 20; and a special Friday Funday event, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," June 16-19.

New this season are Friday Funday season tickets. Just $40 per person, season tickets provide guaranteed seating and a savings of 20% over single ticket prices.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
