DM Playhouse Hosts Teen Theatre Night, 5/12

The Des Moines Community Playhouse is the home for Second Saturday, an alternative Saturday night entertainment for young people in grades 6-12. The final Second Saturday of the school year will be held 7:30-10:00 PM, Saturday, May 12. Cost is $8. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, and is available online at www.dmplayhouse.com.

In its 18th year of theatre fun at The Playhouse, Second Saturday is an evening of laughter and skits, theatre games and theatre sports. Teens work in groups and meet new people. While Second Saturday isn't a class, it is led by The Playhouse's professional education staff who will help teens create impromptu skits.

Second Saturday is held each month, September-May. It will resume for the 2012-13 school year on Sept. 8.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
