This timeless and timely American masterpiece is directed by Peter J. Hughes.
Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” is a psychological exploration of the disturbing effects of mob mentality during intellectually unstable and spiritually confronting times. Inspired by the McCarthy Committee on Un-American Activities “witch hunt” trials of the early 1950’s, and set during the Salem witch hunts of the 1600s, The Crucible remains as relevant as ever, and carries with it a stern warning: in every community torn by suspicion, the most dangerous threat may be the community.
Director Peter J. Hughes has created an artistically ambiguous world, void of historic time/location reference, inviting the audience to create in their minds eye, unique and distinct experiences. From its fear injected beginning to its martyr igniting finale, The Crucible takes us on an emotional, political and spiritual roller coaster ride. The characters and audience members alike take a profound journey in navigating a sustainable faith through the darkness of the human ego into the Light of the human spirit.
