The Clear Space Theatre Company of Rehoboth Beach has announced the cast of their upcoming production of "On Golden Pond." The show stars Dick Pack as Norman Thayer, Liane Hansen as his wife Ethel, Liz Roe as their daughter, Chelsea, Lance Ekas as Chelsea's fiance Bill Ray, Josh Hoffpauir as his son Billy Ray, and Dan Carney as Charlie, the local mailman. The show is directed by Dot Neumann - a frequent director at Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia - who directed the Clear Space productions of "Cabaret," "Shirley Valentine," and "La Cage Aux Folles."

The plot focuses on Ethel and Norman Theyer, an aging couple who spend each summer at their home in Maine on a lake called Golden Pond. During their stay they are visited by their daughter Chelsea, her fiance and his son. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of their marriage.

The Clear Space production turns out to be a bit of a real-life family affair as Dick Pack and Liz Roe are husband and wife, and Liz'z son Josh plays her son in the show. Mr. Pack has performed locally and regionally on stage, in film, television and radio for more than 30 years. Ms. Roe appeared earlier in the season in "The Odd Couple" and has appeared in numerous other local productions. Josh is active in several music groups and was featured as Tiny Tim in the 2009 production of "Scrooge." Though both Mr. Pack and Ms. Roe have appeared together in several shows, "On Golgen Pond" marks the first time all three family members have appeared on stage together.

The production premieres Friday, September 26 with an opening night reception as part of the festivities. The event is catered by Hobo's Restaurant, features complimentary beer and wine, as well as champagne and dessert at intermission. Following the show, the audience is invited to stay for a question and answer session with the cast and director. The show continues through October 12 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 7p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3p.m.

This program is made possible, in part by a grant from the Deleware Division of The Arts. Specific dates, times, and reservations for all shows, including the opening night gala, are available through the box office. 302.227.2270, or online at www.ClearSpaceTheatre.org under the heading "Purchase Tickets."
