In our first official season since changing our name to Texas Performing Arts, we aspire to present programming that, "more intentionally aligns with the academic mission of the University of Texas, increases student arts participation and engagement, and leverages our relationships with other community based arts and cultural organizations," according to Texas Performing Arts Director and Associate Dean Kathy Panoff.

From the Austin debut of the Silk Road Ensemble with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, to a fascinating evening with author, journalist, and food activist Michael Pollan, to a rare engagement by the National Theatre of Scotland performing the stirring play, Black Watch, the 2010-2011 Texas Performing Arts Season continues a rich tradition of bringing the world to Central Texas audiences. "The Texas Performing Arts' 10-11 season of international music, theatre, dance and conversation has grown significantly," says Panoff. " It includes our most robust season of classical offerings in more than a decade, and for the first time in our history, a significant legitimate theatre component."

This season also highlights Mexico's 2010 Bicentennial celebrations, with September and October performances and related engagements by three remarkable Mexican artists including distinguished theatrical group Operación Clown, early-music icon Jordi Savall, and contemporary dance company Delfos Danza Contemporánea.

"One of the hallmarks of the 10-11 season is the expansion of Texas Performing Arts' cultural leadership agenda to include some key, community-based presenting partners," exclaims Panoff. "They include Fusebox Festival, L Style G Style, the Austin Classical Guitar Society, and The Long Center for the Performing Arts. These unprecedented alliances allow us to collectively further the creative culture of which Austin is so proud."
