The place chosen by the Chair of Storytelling Campesina and Traditional "José Obregón Bravo" to develop the feast of storytellers, in defense of identity and dedicated to repentista and delightful storyteller poet Luís Gómez, was the municipality Cumanayagua in Cienfuegos.
From 26 to April 30 organizers belonging to Municipal Cultural Department of Cumanayagua, the Provincial Committee of the UNEAC and CIERIC will meet, along with storytellers, researchers, writers and personalities of national culture, who with their work have contributed study the preservation and promotion of rural and traditional storytelling.
This Second National Meeting of Rural and Traditional Storytellers will take place in the context of the Day of Culture of the host municipality, and aims to show in rural communities based territory, Cuban storytellers with a proven track record; and the competitive nature of the event, will be considered in the presentations, the preservation of the identity of peoples and the naturalness and own pace of rural and traditional storytelling.
On the 27th a symposium with the theme was made: "The peasant and traditional storytelling, intangible heritage. His role in safeguarding the cultural identity of the Cuban Nation "; in the same research work or experiences of institutions, art instructors, cultural and natural promoters, specialists, senior students, referring to popular characters, magical-religious or events counted in tenths manifestations resulting from peasant life is presented in their interaction with the environment and where their customs, traditions and popular imagination are evident.
