The Hartt School Announces Its 2010/2011 Theater Devision

The Hartt School is proud to announce its 2010-2011 Theatre Division performance season. Please call the University Box Office at 860.768.4228 or 800.274.8587 or visit www.hartford.edu/hartt after August 1 for tickets and up-to-date scheduling information for all performances. Admission to all performances is $20 with discounts for seniors, students, and groups.

The 2010-2011 Theatre Season opens with Children of Eden, a sweeping musical by Stephen Schwartz, composer of the beloved musical Godspell Directed by Hartt faculty member Ralph Perkins, the show runs Thursday, October 7, Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 10, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in the Kent McCray Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

Former Hartt Dean Malcolm Morrison directs the Royal National Theatre award-winning play Coram Boy based on the 2000 children's novel by Jamila Gavin, which runs Thursday, October 28, Friday, October 29, and Saturday, October 30, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 31, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford.

The plays The Glorious Ones and Summer of ‘42 will be presented in repertory Thursday, December 8 through Sunday, December 12. Performances of The Glorious Ones are on Wednesday, December 8, and Friday, December 10, at 7:30 PM, and Saturday, December 11, at 2:00 PM. Performances of Summer of ‘42 are on Thursday, December 9, and Saturday, December 11, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, December 12, at 3:00 PM. All performances are in The Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

Pride and Prejudice, based on Jane Austin's classic 1893 novel, runs Thursday, February 17, Friday, February 18, and Saturday, February 19, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, February 20, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in the Kent McCray Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

Hartt's annual Collage Concert, which is free and open to the public, features two acts filled with continuous music, dance, and theatre. Hartt's gift to the community, Collage takes place on Friday, February 18, and Saturday, February 19, at 7:30 PM, in Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Admission is free, though tickets are required.

Theatre Division Director Alan Rust directs Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical Oklahoma! Performances take place on Thursday, March 3, Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, March 6, at 3:00 PM, in Millard Auditorium, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford.

The Theatre Season continues with the entertaining comedy Stage Door on Thursday, April 7, Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9, at 7:30 PM, Sunday, April 10, at 3:00 PM in The Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

The new musical Time After Time runs Thursday, April 14, Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, April 17, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in Kent McCray Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

William Shakespeare's historical play Henry V runs on Thursday, April 28, Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, May 1, at 3:00 PM, in The Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.
