Ridgefield Playhouse to Host Shakepeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona and Green Expo, 8/9
First Niagara Bank and The Ridgefield Playhouse will present the 9th Annual community event -- Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo -- on Saturday, August 9. The "how to live green" fair runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with Shakespeare's "Two Gentlemen of Verona" taking place under a tent for a seated audience at 2 p.m., all on the green at The Ridgefield Playhouse. This free extravaganza is a thank-you from the Playhouse to the greater Ridgefield community, which supports it throughout the year. More than 500 patrons spend fun family time experiencing a contemporary rendition of Shakespeare and learn about green living, which means making sustainable choices about what we eat, how we travel, what we buy, and how we use and dispose of it. Shakespeare's comment on friendship, love, constancy and fickleness, the romantic comedy "Two Gentlemen of Verona", takes us from the controlled world of Verona and Milan to the wildness of the forest where, it seems, anything can happen.
The experts who will be participating in the Green Expo will explain how easy it can be to implement sustainability in our workplace practices, in how we run our homes and how we can make everyday choices that are not only good for us but also for the environment. Food samples, food for purchase, product information and demonstrations make this "green" entertaining and educational event one not to miss.
This year's Shakespeare-on-the-Green and Green Expo is made possible through the generous support of business partners including event title sponsor First Niagara Bank, which is offering a free membership to The Ridgefield Playhouse when a new checking account is opened. This event is sponsored by Patricia Minskoff Breede and Scott Schneider and is underwritten by Altria Group, The O'Connell Family, Ann & Steve Carlson and Pitney Bowes and All Season Party and Tent Rental.
