Seeking:

LOU NUNCLE: (40s-50s) Brilliantly witty yet sarcastic and self-deprecating. Lou has a great passion for the power of the theater and wants to make a contribution. Operates "Captain Lou and Miss Jessie's Magic Theatre for Children of All Ages" and Dapper Dog Grooming Den at the Miracle Mall in an upstate New York town. Seeking something more out of life - but afraid to believe in the possibilities presented to him. Plays the joker to cover his insecurities.

JESSIE: (40s- 50s) She was a career actress in New York City before moving upstate. Lou's partner and Ida's Mother. Jessie is open and grounded and ready to take a risk for what she believes. Very proud of the Children's theater she runs yet conflicted about her relationships with Lou, Arnold, and her daughter.

IDA HEAD: (20s) Jessie's daughter. Internationally-known rock star; she's in town to perform during her tour. Would like a chance to reconnect with her Mother. Ida's been in rehab but currently clean and sober. A dynamo who fronts her own band in sold-out arenas around the country with a multi-million dollar budget.

TOBY CASSIDY: (20s-30s) Ida's boyfriend and sound man/assistant/"roadie". He worships the ground she walks on - he's a good egg and in for the long haul. Charming, friendly, and a little goofy - Toby is excited to meet Ida's family in their native habitat.

ARNOLD CHALK: (40s-50s) Technical director for the children's theater and an Englishman. He loves the theater and is in love with Jessie. A "regular guy" compared to Lou's neurotic personality. British accent a must.

ANNABELLE WILLARD: (should play 60s-70s) A very wealthy well-educated widow. Mrs. Willard owns most of the town, including the theater where the play takes place. She is a misanthrope with a quick, sly wit - though she mostly seeks to amuse herself. She has little tolerance for excess of feelings and anything she deems worthless. She is desperate, yet doesn't want to let anyone know it.

EDWARD: (20s-30s) Mrs. Willard's driver and server of martinis. He is athletic and properly subservient most of the time - loves to talk about wrestling.
