Audiences are invited to take a ride on a magic carpet to a mystical land of genies, sorcerers, and musical comedy. This Cabaret original tells the classic story of Aladdin and the Genie of the lamp as they try to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Adrianna while hiding from the evil magician, Abanazer. Loaded with music, physical comedy, and fun characters, this production is sure to grant your Cabaret wishes.

Local Bridgeport resident, Phill (sic) Hill, has worked at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre for six years in such capacities as stage manager, production manager, and now playwright for both the previous production of Robin Hood and the current production of Aladdin.

According to Hill, "the Cabaret Children's Theatre productions have such a special and unique style and humor that I didn't want to blindly pick another script that didn't measure up to the Cabaret standards. The benefit of being a stage manager and production manager for six years at the Cabaret is that I knew exactly the kind of style and humor our Children's Theatre audiences love and have grown accustomed to, so I was confident I would be able to create a completely original piece especially for the Cabaret."

Hill continues "There are three things I wanted to accomplish with this script of Aladdin. The first was to make it more than children's theatre. I really wanted to make it "family-friendly" or family theatre in the truest sense so that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages."

"The second goal was to tell a compelling story. Theatre is about storytelling...I want it to be funny and be filled to the brim with comedy, but not at the expense of telling a story that is both compelling and child-friendly."
"Finally, I wanted the show to be fun. Everything about this production of Aladdin is fun.

Fun music, fun characters, fun interactions, and yes, a fun story with lots of laughs that everyone can enjoy from our youngest audiences all the way up to grandparents."
